ALLENTOWN- Miss Virginia Boyd of 5 LeBue Lane, Cheektowaga died in Veterans Hospital, yesterday, (March 18, 1976) following a short illness.
She was born Nov. 8, 1912 in Allentown, a daughter of Charles A. and May Allen Boyd. She had lived in Cheektowaga for 28 years.
Miss Boyd attended Allentown School and was a graduate of Genesee Wesleyan Seminary of Lima, and the West brook Academy of Olean
She was a Sgt. in the Women's Auxiliary and had served during World War II in the European and Pacific Theaters.  In the Pacific Theater following the war she had charge of the enlisted WACS in General MacArthur's headquarters in Tokyo, Japan. Later she served as a recruiting officer in Buffalo for two years until her retirement.
Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Adolph Vossler and Mrs. Wellman (Hilda) Dailey, both of Wellsville and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Mason T. Dye Funeral Home from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, at 2:30 PM at the funeral home. The Rev. Arthur Wright retired associate pastor of Wellsville First United Methodist Church will officiate.
Burial will be in Allentown Cemetery.
