Merritt Depew of Stannards, native of Alma and life-long resident of the area, died last night at his home after a lengthy illness. He was 68 a retired Sinclair employee.

Born Jan. 1, 1892, he was the son of Ernest and Flora Green Depew. He was married to Jeanette Woodard. who survives.

Mr. Depew was a member of the Stannards Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War 1 and a member of the American Legion.

Surviving, in addition to his wife are a brother Clyde D. of Petrolia and a sister, Mrs. Leo James of Hominy Hill, Okla.

Friends may call at the family home, where funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday be the Rev. George Kingsley. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Friendship.
