Regardless of the wording in the obituary, Lester Dyke was apparently the son of Nathaniel Dyke II, and the grandson of Nathaniel Dyke, the first European settler in Wellsville.

DEATH OF LESTER DYKE.

Lester Dyke, died at his home at Petrolia at 1:30 o’clock Monday morning, Sept. 26, 1910 aged 84 years. Mr. Dyke had been a resident of Petrolia since 1881. He was born on Feb. 20, 1826 at Cuba, the son of Nathaniel Dyke and Hanna McCombs, the first settlers. He was at one time a resident of Belmont. Mr. Dyke was twice married, his first wife being Elizabeth Smith, to whom he was married on Jan. 1, 1850. In 1873 he married Electa Crabtree, who survives. He is also survived by two children: William Dyke, of Toledo, Ohio, and Mrs. Ida Holmes, of San Francisco.

The funeral will be held from the Petrolia church on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock, the Rev. Mr. Tyler, of Allentown, officiating. Interment will be in the Bellamy cemetery on Niles Hill.
