LEON N. WEIR

FRIENDSHIP-Leon N. Weir, 82, of 40 W. Water St., died Tuesday (June 12, 1979) at Jones Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was bom in Birdsall. On November 25, 1925 he married Mable Thompson who survives.

Mr. Weir lived in Angelica until 1925 when he moved to Friendship . In 1926 he became employed by Friendship Dairies, where he was head cheese-maker, retiring in 1973.

He was a an expert marksman with small and large-bore rifles and was well- known in the Friendship area for his musicianship. He had been a quartet singer and had played instruments in several groups.

He was a member of the Friendship United Methodist Church, Allegany Lodge No. 225, F & A.M. and the National Rifle Association. In addition to his widow, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Velma Hills of Clearwater, Fla.; three sons, Nathan Weir of Portville, Roger Weir of Huntington, W. Va. And Donald Weir of Friendship; nine grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Davis Funeral Home at 50 E. Main St. From 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday where funeral and committal services will take place at 2 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Cornelius C. DeGroat, pastor of the United Church of Friendship, officiating.

Burial will be in the Until the Day Dawn Cemetery in Angelica. Memorials, is so desired may be made to the Friendship Free Library.
