Baptist Church Cemetery
Baptist Church Cemetery

The following cemetery list was transcribed from a July 1965 uncredited record from the Allegany County Historians office. It describes this cemetery as in poor shape, many stones were broken, tipped over and many stones buried. ( Page 278 of the 1879 History of Allegany County says that the cemetery was in poor shape then). Transcribed by Mary Rhodes, February 2006
The cemetery is located on the Main Road thru Friendship, County Rd 20, behind a huge stone church. It is visible from the road.

If anyone else is interested in Gideon BROWNSON, veteran of the War of 1812, I discovered he was born 24 Jul 1790 in Vermont. His father was Isaac Brownson born 1761 in the New Hampshire Grant( later known as Vermont) and died in Gainesville, Wyoming County, New York. Isaac was buried in the Gainesville Pioneer Cemetery. His Mother was Huldah Sears born 9 Oct 1767 in Vermont. Isaac served in the Revolutionary War in the Continental Line and in the Green Mountain Boys. This information was obtained from www.rootsweb.com/~nycgaines/SoldRevWar.htm. I did not discover a marriage for Gideon or children. (by Jody Fairchild).
