AGED WELLSVILLE MAN IS KILLED BY TRAIN

Wellsville, Aug 15.---Walter Leonard, aged 88, a prominent retired farmer, was killed at the Erie crossing near the home of his son, Luman leonard, one quarter mile east of the Wellsville grounds, at 10:30 o’clock, this morning. Mr. Leonard was assisting in driving some cattle to pasture and being quite deaf did not hear a passenger train approaching. He was struck and killed instantly.

Nearly all his long active life had been spent in Spring Mills where in the early days he taught in the Academy. Later he became a senior member of the department store frim of Leonard, Cobb & Allison in Spring Mills.

Last fall eh came to live with son here. He leaves his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Willett Ward, of Wellsville, and two sons, Fred C. Leonard, of Coudersport, Pa., and Luman Leonard of this village.
