Walter J. McEnroe is dead.

Prominent area oil producer and resident of Wellsville,Walter J.McEnroe of 206 W. Sate St., died Saturday evening in Jones Memorial Hospital after an illness of two days. Mr. McEnroe was a member fo the local Elks Club, the Holy Name Society of Immaculate Society of the Wellsville of Immaculate Conception Church, the Wellsville Country Club, NYS Oil Producers Assoc., The Independent Oil Producers Assoc., and the Brookland Club.  He was an ardent sportsman and had gone on mny big game hunting trips. In addition, Mr. McEnroe was an honorary citizen of Boys Town, Neb.

A native of Alma, he was born Oct.  15, 1891, the Son of Thomas and Sara Ann Hilliard McEnroe, and had spent most of this life in Wellsville.

Mr. McEnroe married the former Theresa Munkus in 1915; she preceded him in death. In May of 1951 he married Mrs.Ida (Withey) Burdick who survives with a son, James McEnroe: a brother William McEnroe, Sr., and a sister Mrs. Arnon Bellisle, both of Wellsville.

Funeral Services for Mr. McEnroe will be conducted by Rev, Francis O'Meara tomorrow morning in Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Friends are being received at the McEnroe residence.
