Jessie Palmer Williams

Williams-Jessie PalmerWellsville, NY - Jessie Palmer Williams, 92, of 1712 Stannards Road passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at Highland Park Care Center in Wellsville following a brief illness. She was born September 28, 1920 in Angelica the daughter of late Fay and Louise (Neetz) Palmer. On February 11, 1941 in Angelica she married Paul W. Williams who predeceased her July 7, 2002.

Jessie was a graduate of Angelica High School. She was co-owner and operator of Williams Store in Allentown from 1941 to 1945 and Williams Store in Stannards from 1945 until her retirement in the 1980's. She enjoyed painting, ceramics, sewing, crocheting, embroidery, cooking, reading, cake decorating, especially wedding cakes, bird watching, her favorite being the hummingbird and visits from family and friends. She was an active member of the Stannards United Methodist Church, where she served as the Choir Director and was a member of several fund raising committees. She was also a past officer of the WSCS/UMW and a member of the Willing Fire Department Auxiliary.

She is survived by her son, William (Cheryl) Williams and her daughter, Kathleen (Mark) Flint both of Wellsville, two grandsons, William (Wendy) Williams, Jr. of Trumansburg and Stephen (Kristi) Williams of Scio, a granddaughter, Lori (Trever) Levitt of Wellsville, a step-grandson, Charles (Glorianne) Flint of Bradenton, FL, 13 great-grandchildren, a sister, Ethel Palmer Graham of Hornell, a sister-in-law, Gertrude Palmer Peaslee of Allentown as well as several generations of nieces & nephews.

Friends are invited her funeral on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 2:00 pm in the Stannards United Methodist Church with Rev. Kimberly Snyder presiding. There will be no prior visitation and burial will be in Stannards Cemetery. The family suggests memorial donations be made to Jones Memorial Hospital, 191 N. Main Street, Wellsville, Highland Park Care Center, Wing B; 160 Seneca Street, Wellsville or the Stannards United Methodist Church, 3339 Hallsport Road, Wellsville, NY 14895.
