Cuba Lake Raceway, 50s stock car racing, 10th anniversary annual luncheon/reunion for 50s and 60s stock car racing interests, July 25th 2012 


The 10th annual Cuba Lake Raceway(CLR) luncheon/reunion will be held on Wednesday July 25, 2012 at Moonwinks restaurant just north of the village of Cuba, NY on Rt. 305 and 1/2 mile from the site of the old CLR track. Many drivers from the 50s era such as Herb Layfield, Ron Baker, Bill Tingue, Art Clark, Dick Hurd, Bill Rafter, Ed Ortiz, Squirt Johns and Tom Dill to name few along with NASCAR current sensation from Cuba, NY Brandon Glover and his upcoming driver brother Corey are all planning on attending. Past luncheon/reunions have had drivers and other notables of that era of racing from 7 States and Canada attending. Registration starts at 10:30 with lunch at 12:15pm. Sit-down luncheon has a choice of Scampi style Haddock or Roast Turkey with Stuffing & Gravy entree along with all the trimmings.  Cost of $14.00/person includes full meal, beverage(alcohol drinks not included but may be purchased if desired), tax and gratuity.

Program: Guest speaker for this years very special 10th anniversary will be Bill Green the historian for the International Motor Racing Research Center, headquartered at Watkins Glen, NY. The Research Center and Museum is the world center for all forms of motor sports racing and contains one of the largest archives of documents on the subject in the world. Mr. Green will be sharing his vast knowledge of experience and stories on local 50s stock car racing at many tracks that operated in WNY, NWPA and Ontario. He will also be entertaining us with details from his extensive travels world wide including contacts etc. afforded him during his years in automobile racing.
