Willis Family History

WILLIS, Mrs. ABIGAIL L DE NEUVILLE
Born 1822 daughter of John and Patience Ann Sheldon de Neuville, of New England. This family lived in Saratoga County, N.Y., raising a family of nine children, eventually locating at Basswood Hill. John and Patience de Neuville are buried at Allen Center, N.Y. Abigail was their youngest daughter. She married Araunah S. Willis. To this union 7 children were born: Araunah F., George V., Louisa (married Frank Warner), Daniel H., Lydia (married G. H. Abbey), Abigail Jane (married Calvin Farnum), Martin G., and Annette (married Solomon Palmer). All grew to adulthood on Baker's Creek. Abigail de Neuville Willis died April 1896. Lot 553

WILLIS, ARAUNAH F.
Born Feb. 7, 1839, son of Araunah S. and Abigail L de Nouville Willis. Araunah F. Willis was a life long resident of Angelica and vicinity; died January 24, 1921, 82 years of age. Married in 1861 to Julia Clark and to them were born four daughters, Mrs. Burton Waite of Michigan, Mrs. Eliza Wisner of Montana, Mrs. Almon Weaver of Birdsall, and Mrs. John S. Bardwell of Grove; and one son Claude all of whom survive him. Served in the Civil War 1862-1865. Mustered out March 11, 1865. He also leaves to mourn him two brothers, Rev. Daniel Willis of Maryland, and Martin Willis of this place, and three sisters, Mrs. Palmer of Washington, Mrs. G. H. Abbey of this place, and Mrs. Calvin Farnum of Burns; also nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Buried in Angelica. Lot 553

WILLIS, ARAUNAH S.
Born in Taunton, Mass. of Lydia Shaw; the name of his father is unknown having died when Araunah was just a lad. Lydia remarried after Araunah's death, and relocated in Bakers Creek, Allegany Co. Araunah S. married Abigail L. deNouville 1822; died in 1873 in Angelica, NY. To this union 7 children were born: Araunah F., George V., Louisa (married Frank Warner), Daniel H., Lydia (married G. H. Abbey), Abigail Jane (married Calvin Farnum), Martin G., and Annette (married Solomon Palmer). All grew to adulthood on Baker's Creek. Abigail de Neuville Willis died April 1896. Lot 318

Born 1902, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Martin Willis of Angelica. Died September 29, 1946, 44 years old. Burial in Angelica.

WILLIS, Mrs. HARRIET (Obituary, this website)
Born in Angelica, December 17, 1860; died July 5, 1937. Married Martin Willis July 14, 1880; he died October 24, 1927. Son George Willis died in France during World War I. Survived by Captain H. E. Willis, West Point; Mrs. Henry Allen, Wellsville; Miss Mitty Willis of Angelica; Martin Willis, Wellsville; Glenn Willis at a state hospital, Allen Wallace, son-in-law, three brothers, Joseph Shafer, Angelica; Moses B. Shafer, Alta, Alberta, Canada; and one sister, Mrs. Clara Newsom, Arkport.

Born 1844, at Angelica, daughter of Abagail Clark. Married Aruanah F. Willis October 15, 1861, who died January 25, 1921, in Birdsall. To this union were born five children: Eliza "Laurettie" (Mrs. Fred Wisner, Deer Lodge, Mont.); Bertha (Mrs. Burton Waite, Manton, Mich.); twin daughters, Maude Ella Gay (Mrs. John Bardwell of Grove), and Eva Maybelle (Mrs. Almon Weaver) of Allen, and Claude Willis.
