1950 - 2015 | Obituary

Boyer Martha G Marty

ANDOVER - Martha G. Boyer, 64, passed away Thursday (May 28, 2015) at Hart Comfort House following a lengthy illness, surrounded by family.

Mrs. Boyer was born on Sept. 4, 1950, in North Hornell, to E. Carlton and Martha N. (Nuzum) Greene. She was a 1968 graduate of Andover Central School. Also that year, she was awarded the honor of being the Fourth of July Parade Queen. She earned her Associates of Science from Alfred State College in 1970. Shortly thereafter, she moved to Hawaii, and later Alaska, where each of her two children were respectively born.

Marty, as Secretary to the Principal, was the voice and person that greeted you at Andover Central School from 1991 until her retirement in 2015.

Marty is survived by one son, Sean K. (Kristy) Boyer of Bath; one daughter, Melanie S. (Matthew) Zengerle of Andover; three brothers, Edward G. (Susan Kay) Greene of Midlothian, Va., James N. (Jane F.) Greene of Derry, N.H., and William A. (Sheila) Greene of Scio; four grandchildren, David Boyer, Cameron Boyer, Kylen Zengerle and Kayden Zengerle; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Marty loved her job at Andover Central School. She enjoyed the interaction she had with all her "Children of Andover" as she would refer to them. In many ways, that love for children was lived out in her love for family, especially her children and grandchildren.

Friends are invited to visit on Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and on Saturday from 10-11 a.m. at Baker-Swan Funeral Home in Andover. The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home immediately following the visitation with Rev. Chris Mattison of the Andover Presbyterian Church officiating.

Memorial contributions in Marty's name may be made to Hart Comfort House of Allegany County, 141 East State St., Wellsville, NY 14895.
