WELLSVILLE -- Florence R. "Andy" Anderson, of Wellsville, died Sunday in the Town of Scio from injuries sustained in an auto accident.

She was born August 15, 1928 in the Town of Winthrop, MA., a daughter of John C. Rodgers and Florence L. (King) Rodgers.

A long time resident of Wellsville, Andy was a graduate of the Flower 5th Avenue School of Nursing in New York City and later graduated cumlaude from St. Bonaventure University. She also did graduate work at Alfred University. She was a Registered Nurse and was the evening Supervising Nurse at Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville for many years, retiring in 1990.

She was a former member of the Wellsville Country Club, had volunteered for the Allegany County Chapter of the American Cancer Society, the Allegany County Office for the Aging and was a member of the Second Reform Church of Terrytown, NY.

She is survived by five children, Florence L. Anderson-Houston of Burke, VA., Charlotte "Annie" Loeffler of Cheektowaga, Mary A. Huang of South Pasadena, CA., Robert F. Anderson II, of Johnsonville, NY., and Christina A. Schrader of Pittsburgh, PA., 14 grandchildren, two brothers John C. Rodgers of Arkansas, and Timothy K. Rodgers of Massachusetts, and her former husband, Robert F. Anderson of Atlanta, GA.

There will be no prior visitation.

Friends are invited to attend a memorial service April 26, at 2 p.m. at the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc., in Wellsville. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery, Hartsdale, NY.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Jones Memorial Hospital Memorial Fund, the Allegany Art Association 95 N. Main Street, Wellsville or to the Allegany County Office for the Aging.
