ANDOVER -- Susie D. Baker, 96, passed away peacefully Tuesday (May 6, 2003) at the Highland Health Care Center, Wellsville.

She was born March 15, 1907, in Andover, to George and Hattie Fuller Baker. In 1925, she graduated from Andover Central School. On June 4, 1933 she married Roger Baker who predeceased her on February 25, 1977.

She worked for several years at the Andover Silk Mill as a quiller. Later, she devoted herself to the task of wife and homemaker.

Mrs. Baker is survived by four daughters, Jackie Baker of Rochester, Lorraine Baker of Dundee, Jeanie Baker of Andover and Rosamond Hulse of Portville and seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she is predeceased by two sisters, Doris Graves and Eleanor Lunn, one brother Howard Baker and one grandson, Tracey Hulse.

Susie was an avid reader and impressed many with her talent at sketching people.

Friends may call on Thursday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Baker-Swan Funeral Home, 7 Church Street, Andover. A funeral service will be held immediately following visiting hours at 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. The Reverend David Truscott of the First Baptist Church of Andover will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Andover at the convenience of the family.
