Miss Alice J Davis Rites Due Tomorrow; Allentown Resident

ALLENTOWN -- Funeral services for Miss Alice J. Davis, 82. Allentown postmistress for 28 years, will be held tomorrow afternoon at Embser Funeral Home, Wellsville, followed by burial here.
Miss Davis, who was postmistress here from 1916 to 1944, died yesterday at Tait Nursing Home, Wellsville, after a three month illness.
A native of Venango County, PA. she was born Sept. 3, 1877, the daughter of Washington Davis and Effie Lasher Davis. She was a Town of Alma resident since 1881, serving as Pikevill postmistress for two years prior to assignment to the Allentown position.
Miss Davis was a member of the Allentown Methodist Church.
Surviving are three nieces and nine nephews.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Rev. Roy Black, pastor of the Allentown church, will conduct the 1:30 p.m. funeral services.
