Judson Jacobs

Judson Jacobs, one of the best known residents of Independence, died at his home two miles from Whitesville, Saturday evening, of stomach trouble.

Mr. Jacobs was a well known and very influential citizen and a man much beloved by his neighbors and acquaintances. He was an old veteran of the civil war. He was 70 years old. Mr. Jacobs served his town as Supervisor and was a very influential member of the board.

Wilfred Crandall, Doulphin Dexter, Judson Jacobs, and Sidney Crandall served in the civil war together and at one time made their escape together, and were afterward recaptured. Mr. Sidney Crandall of this village is the only survivor of the quartet.

Funeral services were held Monday at Whitesville.
