Wllsville – Walter R. McMurtry, 74, of the Phillips Road, Wellsville, died today (Saturday, June 24, 1978) at the Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville.
Born Feb 9, 1904 at Fillmore, he was a son of Frank A and Mary Rice McMurtry. He was married to the former Gloria Phillips, who survives.
Mr. McMurtry was a member of the First Congregational Church of Wellsville.
Surviving besides his widow, are three sons, Carl H. McMurtry of Youngstown, Walter R. McMurtry Jr. of Henrietta, and Everett L. McMurtry of Frankfort, Ill., a daughter Mrs David (Beth) Flammer of Rochester; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Friends may call at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Wellsville, Sunday from 7 to 9 pm where funeral services will be held Monday (June 26, 1978) at 2 pm. Rev. Dr. Randall H. Neihoff, pastor of the First Congregational Church will preside. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellsville.
