Services to Ailing Many Now Passes to Reward

Burial today in Fairlawn cemetery, Scio, with military honors by Herbert W. DeLong Post, American Legion, was accorded Mrs. Martha May Watson Reynolds, a World War nurse in military camps in this country, following service in the Joseph J. Nehil home at 10:30 am and in St. Phillip’s Episcopal church here at 11 am.

Mrs. Reynolds died Monday in the Nehil home, after an illness of one year during a part of which time she was a patient in Batavia Veterans Hospital.

Deceased was  born in West Almond September 22, 1887, a daughter of Gardner and Eliza Ellis Watson.  She was married to George Reynolds in 1921, who passed away one year later.  One brother and three sisters, all residing in the west, survive.  Mrs. Catherine Wendt of Hill City, Minn., a sister, was here with her the past couple of weeks.

Mrs. Reynolds had resided in Belmont and vicinity for the past ten years.  She was well known throughout Allegany through her work as a registered nurse.  She taught school in this and adjoining counties before studying nursing in Bellevue Hospital, New York City, where she was graduated.  At one time she was night superintendent in the Olean General hospital.

She was a member of Herbert W. DeLong Post, American Legion, of Belmont, and also a member and very active worker in St. Phillip’s Episcopal church. She took special interest in the Sunday school and was the attendance officer and visiting nurse
