West Clarksville — Funeral services for Walter Allen Updyke of this place were held Sunday afternoon (January 28, 1945) at two o'clock at the late Home and at two-thirty o'clock at the West Clarksville Baptist Church. The Rev. Albert White- head officiated. Prayer was said by the Rev. C. C. Kennedy of Olean.

Pallbearers were D. G. Perkins M. W. Lewis, Claude Kingsbury, G. D. Jack, S. D. Lamb and B. D. Thayer. Burial was in West Clarksville Cemetery.

Mr. Updyke, fifty-nine years old, died Thursday (January 25 1945) at three-fifty o'clock at the Cuba Memorial Hospital following nine days' illness.

He was born February 14, 1885, at Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pa., son of Herman and Julia C. Updyke. He had resided on his farm here for thirty-six years. His wife, Mrs. Laura R. Updyke, died January. 12, 1944.

Surviving, are three daughters, Miss Louise Updyke and Miss Marion Updyke, at home, and Mrs. Gerald Beach of Olean; two brothers, Colin B. Updyke of Elmira and Elmer Updyke of Mainesburg, Pa.; two sisters, Mrs. Ray Smith of Sylvania, Pa., .-and Mrs. Clyde Richmond of Clarksville.
