From a clipping given to me by Connie Alsworth Barney comes this interesting story about the Elfgren Family on their way to Nebraska, 1955 I believe.
I found a couple of internet search comments about their travels, one in Northeastern NY State before arriving here in Allegany County NY on their way west. On July 8, 1955 I found an article about mail problems of the Postal Service in trying to locate where to deliver their mail near Johnson City, NY. Another article tells of their travels and they got as far as Hannibal, MO.:

They still had about 400 miles to go on July 12th and they expected to reach Nebraska by about the 1st of August.
