OBSTRUCTION ON THE TRACKS

Floyd Davis aged about 15, who has been working for Francis M. Lee of TipTop, wasarrestedyesterdayandbroughtbeforeEsquireKinneyofthisplace,(Andover)chargedwithanattempttowreckatrainofcarsbyplacingabrokencouplinglinkontherailatapointnearthetownlinebetweenAndoverandAlfred.Theboyadmittedthedeed,butdeniedtheintenttodoharm.Thecasewasadjournedto1o'clock this afternoon, when an examination will takeplace.

ThetrialofFloydDavis,whoplacedabroken couplinglinkoverarailontheErie Railroad, between this place and Tip Top, was held last Wednesdayafternoonbefore Justice Edward Kinney. As we stated last week, the boy admitted thedeed, but said he didn't think any harm would result. The obstruction wasfortunately discovered before a train passed. Had it been otherwise there is no tellingwhat injurywouldhavebeen done.JusticeKinneythoughtsixmonths injailwould beas effective for the boy and safer for the public that a practical demonstration that harmwouldresultfromsuchpractices,andheaccordinglygavehimthatsentence,under a plea of guilty to the charge of malicious trespass.
