Thanks to Mary Rhodes for transcribing the Mortality Schedules from the Census Pages. Currently she has done Towns of Alma, Andover, Independence, Scio, Wellsville & Willing. ***NOTES ABOUT THE MORTALITY SCHEDULE***
The U.S. Federal Censuses from 1850 to1880 included a mortality schedule listing the individuals who had died in the previous year. Each of the censuses from 1850-1880 began on June 1, the previous year refers to the 12 months preceding June 1, or June 1 (of the previous year) to May 31 (of the census year). Example, for 1875 in the town of Andover, Francis McGinty died Sept 18, 1874, likewise, William Walker died May 25, 1875.
The following is a compilation of people who are found on the mortality schedules from the towns of Andover, Alma, Independence, Scio, Wellsville and Willing. As I can, I will add more towns.
The town of WELLSVILLE did not exist in 1850, people dying in Wellsville in the 1850 census would be listed in the town of SCIO.
The Town of WILLING did not exist prior to 1856 – deaths for 1850 would be shown in SCIO and INDEPENDENCE.
The Town of Alma did not exist prior to 1854—deaths for 1850 would be shown in SCIO and possibly INDEPENDENCE.
