OLIVER S. BLACKMAN,

Allentown – Oliver S. Blackman, 89, of Drum Road, died Tuesday night in Jones Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.

He was born Nov 6, 1887 in Leavenworth Ind, the son of Oliver and May Gleason Blackman.

He had lived in this area since 1908.  He was a drilling contractor in the local oil fields for 35 years.  He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Allentown and was formerly on the Board of Trustees of the church.  Mr. Blackman was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Frank B. Church VFW Post in Wellsville.  He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America.  He was a member of the Allentown Fire Department.

In 1917, he married May Tourtellotte who survives.  He is survived by one daughter, Mrs Ronald (Jane R) Strum of Allentown, four grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Calling hours will be 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 Thursday at Embsers Funeral Home, Wellsville.

Funeral and Commitment services will be held at the Funeral Home, at 2PM on Friday, with the Rev. William Atkins officiating.  Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wellsville Volunteer Ambulance Corp.
