WILLING -- Guy R. Coats, 52, of the Hallsport Road, died Monday (Jan. 18, 2010) in his home following a long illness.
Born in Wellsville on April 2, 1957, he was the son of Charles F. A. and Elizabeth Billings Coats. On Dec. 28, 1979, in Wellsville, he married the former Christine Sherwood, who survives.
A lifelong resident of the Hallsport area, Mr. Coats was a graduate of Wellsville High School and Houghton College, class of 1979, receiving a degree in elementary education.
He was employed by Dresser-Rand in Wellsville as project development manager.
Mr. Coats was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Wellsville, Houghton Academy Board, Hallsport Cemetery Association Board and was a former member and past chief of the Willing Volunteer Fire Department.
An avid golfer, he also enjoyed wooedworking.
Surviving besides his wife "Chris" are a daughter, Laura (Jed) Barnes of Mount Upton; two sons, Eli (Alisha) Coats of Wellsville and Jesse Coats of Belmont; two sister, Deborah (John) Scott of Holland, Mich., and Darlene (Tim) Sherwood of Wellsville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents.
There will be no visitation. Funeral services will be held Thursday (Jan. 21, 2010) at 1 p.m. at the First Congregational Church in Wellsville witht he Rev. Tom Kristofferson, pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Wellsville, officiating. Burial will be in Hallsport Cemetery, town of Willing.
Memorial may be made to the David A. Howe Library or the Presbyterian Church, both of Wellsville.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Mulhollando-Crowell Funeral Home in Wellsville.
