Iola V. Dickerson


LITTLE GENESEE, NY – Iola V. Dickerson, 93, of 1015 Horse Run Road died at home on Monday (Sept. 26, 2011) after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family.
Born Sept. 12,1918, in Bolivar, she was a daughter of George B. and Mary A. Holms Green. On June 4, 1938, in Richburg, she married Leland E. Dickerson, who predeceased her July 19, 2001.
Mrs. Dickerson, who was a graduate of Bolivar Central School, where she later worked in the cafeteria for many years until retiring in 1990.
She loved to travel and she enjoyed her grandchildren, camping and going dancing with her good friends, Connie and David.
Surviving are a daughter, Carole E. (Tadek) Brzytwa of Davenport, Fla.; a son. Kenneth A. (Kimberly) Dickerson of Little Genesee; five grandchildren, Stephen (Jalaine) Brzytwa of Decatur, Ala., Pamela (Ron) Perkins of Henrietta, Kenneth (Margaret) Dickerson Jr. of Bolivar, Carrie (Frank Carr) Dickerson of Shinglehouse, Pa., and Amanda (Mike) Jereb of Hinsdale; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donald Green of Allentown and Boyd (Shirley) Green of Wellsville; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Naomi Baldwin.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Schaffner Funeral Home Inc., 554 Main St., Bolivar, where funeral services will be held Thursday (Sept. 29, 2011) at 11 a.m. The Rev. Larry Hodgson of Friendship will
officiate. Burial will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery, Bolivar.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
