WELLSVILLE —

Viola M. Dickerson, 89, of Wellsville, a former longtime resident of Alma, passed away with her loving family at her side on Monday (Oct. 1, 2012) in the Highland Healthcare Center, Wellsville, after a long illness.

Born May 9, 1923, in Custer City, Pa., she was a daughter of Harrison B. and Blanche V. Taylor Lunn. On April 3, 1939, in Shinglehouse, Pa., she married Emmitt F. Dickerson, who passed away on Jan. 14, 1999.
Mrs. Dickerson attended Bolivar High School. She was employed at the former Alma Store in Alma and then was employed for 28 years at American Olean Tile Company in Olean. She later worked as a home health aide in Allegany County, retiring in 1984.

Mrs. Dickerson was a life member of the Alma Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She loved spending time with her family.

Surviving are three daughters, Vicki L. (Barry) Flewellyn of Ulysses, Pa., Sandra K. Rowley of Wellsville, and Connie L. (Jack) Mason of Springfield, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Dickerson was predeceased by a daughter, Karen S. Reynolds; a grandson, Jason Boyd; three brothers, Harrison B. Lunn, Jr., Raymond C. Lunn and Norman F. Lunn; and a sister, Reta Schweickert.

Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday (Oct. 6, 2012) at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 S. Union St., Shinglehouse, Pa., where funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with Mr. Jack Mason, Mrs. Dickerson’s son-in-law, officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellsville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
