Ida G. Duffee

WELLSVILLE -- Ida G. (Heist) Duffee, 91, formerly of 235 Stevens Street died Tuesday (April 22, 2003) in the Highland Health Care Center.

She was born June 25, 1911 in Dagus Mines, PA. a daughter of John Heist and Anna (Shuttleworth) Heist.

She was married June 2, 1934 in Ridgway, PA. to Dewitt "Dewey" G. Duffee.

Ida also lived and raised her family in Ridgway, where she graduated from high school in 1930. In June 1962 she earned an LPN license and worked her entire LPN career in the Jones Memorial Hospital Intensive Care Unit. After retirement she provided private, in-home care in the Wellsville community. She was a long time member of the Christian Temple Church. Ida enjoyed her family, her church, travel, knitting and bridge.

She is survived by two sons, John Duffee of Jamestown and Dennis Duffee of Bemus Point, three daughters, JoAnn Fritz of North Tonawanda, Kay Carter of Anchorage, AK., Gretchen Vincent of Wellsville, 14 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren, four sisters, Harrietta Anderson of Warminster, PA., Virginia Wicks of Ridgway, Ethel Grames of Wellsville and Betty Lou Conley of Neatau, OR., several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a daughter Christine Duffee and a brother Morris Heist.

Friends may call Thursday April 24 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., only, at the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home in Wellsville. A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. April 25, at the Christian Temple Church in Wellsville with the Reverend Anna Shirey officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Wellsville.

Memorials may be made to the Christian Temple Church or to Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville.
