Maurice L. Field
SCIO -- Maurice L. "Morey" Field, 73, of 4051 Pine Street, Scio died Wednesday (May 7, 2003) at home following an illness.
He was born June 8, 1929 in Salamanca, a son of Loren and Pearl Luce Field. In 1949 he married Doris Mildred Milks, who predeceased him in 1959. On April 29, 1961 in Scio, he married Kay Karr, sho survives.
Mr. Field was a 1947 graduate of Salamanca High School. He served in the U.S. Army from January 18, 1952 to January 17, 1954. Mr. Field was a meat cutter at Loblaws in Wellsville and in Johnson City where he lived for three years. He returned to Scio and worked for Fancher Furniture in Salamanca for a number of years. In 1965 he went to work for Dresser-Rand in Wellsville on and off for 30 years. Also during that time he owned and operated Field Food Grocery Store in Scio from 1965 to 1989. Mr. Field retired from Dresser-Rand in 1995.
Mr. Field was a minister of the Institute of Devin Metaphysical Research (IDMR). He was an avid snowmibiler, snow skier; enjoyed both cross-country motorcycling and trial riding. Mr. Field was a member of the Scio Volunteer Fire Department and the Amity Pathfinders.
Surviving Mr. Field are: three sons, Larry M. (Sandra) Field, Dennis B. (Sheila) Field, and Loren S. Field of Scio; a daughter, Lynnette K. (William) Armstrong of Scio; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a brother, Dana (Virginia) Field of Westons Mills; two sisters, Myrtle (Ed) Blackmon of Kill Buck and Irene Hutchinson of Little Valley; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Field was predeceased by two sisters, Margaret Blackmon and infant Ronda Field.
Friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Mulholland-Crowell Funeral Home Inc. in Wellsville, where funeral and committal services will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. Mr. Field's son Dennis Field, who is a minister of the Arkport branch of the IDMR will officiate.
Burial will be in the Fairlawn Cemetary in Scio. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
