Obituary for Raymond C. Hasard

WELLSVILLE — Raymond C. Hasard, 81, passed away at home following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Hasard was born July 21, 1925, in Richburg, to Merton and Florence (Reynolds) Hasard. He was a 1943 graduate of Allentown Union School. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1945-46 and during the Korean Conflict, in the U.S. Army as a drill instructor at West Point Military Academy from 1950-52. In 1952, in Brooklyn, he married Ruth Hansen, who predeceased him Feb. 8, 2005.


Raymond worked as a machinist for Air Preheater in the 1950s and later for American Can Company in Brooklyn for 20 years until his retirement in 1978.

Ray is survived by three sons, Larry Hasard, of Oneida, Kenny Hasard, of Brooklyn, and Steve Hasard, of Easton, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews residing in California.

Ray was an avid NASCAR racing fan and enjoyed fishing. More importantly, he was a loving husband to his wife of 52 years and a devoted father.

Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at Mulholland-Crowell Funeral Home, Wellsville. The funeral service with full military honors will take place 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home immediately following the visitation. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
