OBITUARY - E. GWYNETH JAQUISH

ARCADE - E. Gwyneth Jaquish, of Liberty St., Arcade, died Sunday (Dec. 24, 2017) in her home at the age of 87.

She was born Nov. 13, 1930, to Erman O. and Lulu Etta (Quick) Richmond of Allentown, and was a granddaughter of John and Ada Quick of Wellsville. She was married Jan. 12, 1950, in Franklinville, to Ronald Jaquish, who survives.

She was a graduate of Scio Central School, Westbrook Commercial Academy in Olean and the New York Institute of Photography in New York City. She also attended Alfred University as a psychology major and received a real estate diploma from Bryant and Stratton College.

She had owned and operated Jaquish Liberty Portrait Studio since 1956 in Arcade with her husband and family. She taught private organ, piano and voice lessons for many years and had been organist in Arcade, Delevan, Machias, Springville and Wellsville Methodist churches. She was employed with Sarah Coventry for many years and also sold Avon products.

She was past president of Arcade pre-school and intermediate study groups; a PTA board member; a past member and past matron of the Arcade Eastern Stars; a current member of the Mount Vernon Lodge Eastern Star in Java Village, Ailaimsi, Daughters of the Nile, Knights Templar Auxiliary, Allegany chapter of American Guild of Organists, New York State Professional Photographers Society, Professional Photographers of America and Buffalo Music Teachers Society; and a former member of the Arcade Rebekah Lodge. She was also a former member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Springville and was a current member of St. Matthias Episcopal Church, East Aurora.

Along with her husband, Ronald, she is survived by her children, Mark (Joyce) Jaquish of Chaffee, Connie (Lee) Massie of Akron, Ohio, Bonnie (Curt) Etzel of Colden, Brenda (Mark) Dziamski of Carlsbad, N.M., Rene Hall of Mount Rushmore, S.D., Sheryl Northrup of Yorkshire, Kristina (Jerry) Warner of Alden, Amy (Neal) Slocum of Machias, Dan (Sue) Jaquish of Monroe, N.C., Kathy Heppner of Freedom and Jon Jaquish of Kennedy; 29 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, William (Deloris) Richmond of Florida; a sister, Elaine Moss of Copley, Ohio; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Jane Jaquish and Ronafae Pastorius; a brother, Paul Richmond; three sons-in-law, Shawn Slocum, William Wheeler and Doug Northrup; and two brothers-in-law, Keith Carlson and Lloyd Moss.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday (Jan. 2, 2018) at W. S. Davis Funeral Home Inc., 358 W. Main St., Arcade. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday (Jan. 3, 2018) in St. Matthias Episcopal Church, 374 Main St., East Aurora. Burial will be in Stannards Cemetery, Wellsville.
