Rites Held Saturday for Mrs. Ellen C. Irish

Funeral services for Mrs. Ellen Crandall Irish of Friendship, who died at her home Wednesday (October 13, 1943) following a short illness, were held Saturday afternoon with prayer services at 1:30 o’clock at the late home, Pennsylvania Avenue and further services at 2 o’clock at the Seventh Day Baptist Church at Nile. The Rev. Alton Wheeler officiated. Burial was in the Obi Cemetery.
A resident of Friendship for the past 54 years, Mrs. Irish was born in Nile, November 6, 1856, the daughter of Samuel Park and Marion Weber Crandall. She was a widow of Myron Irish who died May 1932. One daughter, Mrs. Floyd Carpenter of Ashville, NY, survives, together with seven grandchildren; Myron Burrows, Mrs. Virgil Johnson and Mrs. Howard Wightman, Friendship; Mrs. Leon Polmateer, Wellsville; Mrs. Harry Card and Mrs. Harold Wightman, Ashville; Mrs. Leon Drake, Shinglehouse. Twenty-two great-grandchildren also survive.
