Strouse, Dorothy L. "Dot" Lever
Lindley, NY - Dorothy L. “Dot” Strouse, of Carriage Drive, passed away Sunday (June 8, 2008) at her home. She was born Feb. 18, 1925, in Wellsville, to John C. and Floye Graves Lever. On June 27, 1942, in Andover, she married Walter E. “Red” Strouse Jr., who predeceased her on Aug. 15, 1995.
Dot was a former resident of Andover, where she graduated from high school and moved to Lindley in 1972. Along with her husband, they founded Red-Dot Camp Ground in Elm Valley which is now Deer Run Camp Ground. She loved to travel and camped with her husband in all of the lower 48 states. Dot was a member of the Lindley and Corning Senior Citizens Centers and enjoyed playing bingo. She loved life and her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and will be remembered as a loving and generous person.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharon (Don) Kennedy of LeRoy; a son, John (Sue) Strouse of Seminole, Fla.; eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, Charles Lever; and a sister, Marion Lever Pease.
Friends are invited to call from 7-9 p.m. Friday in the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home, Inc., 34 W. State St. in Wellsville. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home with Deacon Frank Pasquale. Burial will take place in Hillside Cemetery in Andover. Memorial donations in Dot’s name may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.
