Wellington L. Vosburg, Steam Engine Enthusiast

Centerville – Wellington L. Vosburg of Findlay Road died Monday (May 6, 1996) in Wyoming County Community Hospital, Warsaw, after a long illness.

Born on Feb 26, 1902 in the town of Centerville, he was a son of Elbert and Dora Findlay Vosburg.

On Dec 7, 1924, in the town of Freedom, he married Ethel S. Fiegl, who died in 1989.

Mr. Vosburg was a retired farmer.  He was a charter and life member of the Centerville Fire Department, a charter member of the Centerville Grange, and a member of the New York Steam Engine Association.

Surviving are two sons, Bernard Vosburg of Bergen and Bradley (Fran) Vosburg of Centerville, three daughters, Barbara (Arthur) Crosby of Pike, Berneata (Frank) Hodnett Vosburgh of Fillmore and Betty Bennett of Nunda, 26 grandchildern, 46 great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, a cousin, Edna Findlay Myers of Centerville and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Sam Vosburg, and a sister, Onalee Vosburg.

Friends are being received from 7 to 9 pm today at the Kopler-Williams Funeral Home, Fillmore, where funeral services will be held Wednesday (May 8, 1996) at 1 pm.  Pastor Joel Stroud of the First Baptist Church of Hume will officiate.  Burial will be in the Centerville Cemetery.
