A Grand Army Post has been organized at this place with thirty charter members, and named after Sellick Sawyer, the first soldier killed at the battle of the Fair Oaks from this town.  Last Saturday evening there were some twenty mustered in and more are to come, making Sawyer Post one of the best in the country.  The following officers were duly elected: Commander, J. L. Crittenden; S. V. C., Wm R. Deake, J. V. C.,  L. Ainsworth; Surgeon John G. Horton; Qrt M., James L. Chase; Officer of the Day, Sidney Crandall; Adj’t. John C Bartlett; O. of G., Orville G. Clark; QRT. M.S., James Livermore; S. M., Albert Halsey. Mr. O. T. Perkins the installing officer for this district acquitted himself in his usual happy manner and carried the usual enthusiasm into the ranks which make the true soldier. Long may they live and prosper.
