Services For Mrs. Annis
Beckwith, Hinsdale,
At Obi Church.

Funeral services for Mrs. Anuis Beckwith, Hinsdale, who passed away Friday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Altha J. Windsor Hinsdale, were held at the home at one-thirty o'clock at the United Brethren, Church, Obi, at two-thirty o'clock, the Rev. W. L. Cassier officiating. Burial was in West Clarksville Cemetery.

Glenn Loveridge, Cuba, sang "Softly And Tenderly Jesus Is Calling" and the Reitz Brothers of Obi sang, "He Is Near, Ever Near". Pall-bearers were four grand-sons, M. Edward Windson, Lee E. Windson, Donald Beckwith, and Harley Beckwith. and two grand-nephews, Albert Wixson, and Carl Wixson.

Mrs. Beckwith was born in Wayne, N, Y., September 16, 1841, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Moses Wixson. When a small child, her parents moved to a farm in the town of West Clarksville. Here she went to school and later attended Alfred College. She taught school until 1860 when she was united in marriage to Clark H. Beckwith on October 24. To this union were born one daughter, Altha, and three sons, Arthur, Homer and Ralph.


Surviving are: daughter, Mrs. Altha J.. Wiudson, Hinsdale; sister, Mrs. Edith Ballard, Syracuse; brother, Julius Wixson, Oakland, Calif.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

During the Civil War she resumed her teaching in Oil City, Pa. After Mr. Beckwith's return from the war they purchased a farm in Obi where she lived until a few years ago after her husband's death.

Mrs. Beckwith was a lifelong member of the Obi United Brethren Church having been superintendent of the Sunday School for thirty years. She was a member of Olean Women's Relief Corps and Hinsdale Women's Christian Temperance Union. Although ninety-two years of nge, Mrs. Beckwith could quote fluently any passage from the Bible.

Out-of-town friends and relatives attending the funeral included: Mrs. Edith Ballard, Mary Carnahan, Syracuse; M. Edward Windson, Mrs. Lennie Cooper, Mrs. Lawrence Monnin and son, Kenneth , Buffalo, Mrs. T.F. Ganghan, New York City; Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Panus, Reuben Wixson, Mr. and Mrs. L. G, Wixson and daughter: .John Spencer, Olean.
