Frank J. Carlin

Wellsville -- Frank J. Carlin, 67, of 249 North Main Street, Wellsville, died Sunday (April 27, 2003) in Jones Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

He was born October 25, 1935, in Wellsville, a son of Charles D. and Lillian F. (Brown) Carlin. On May 27, 1978, in Scio, N.Y., he was married to Phyllis Turybury who survives. He was a life-long resident of Wellsville who attended Wellsville Central Schools and who served in the US Marine Corps for two years.

He retired from Dresser-Rand, Wellsville in October 1998 after 33 years as a machinist. He was a life-long member of the Frank B. Church VFW Post 2530, in Wellsville, a member of Moose Lodge #601 of Wellsville and a member of the Richburg Rod and Gun Club.

He was an avid bowler, enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.

He was a loving husband, father, stepfather, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be sadly missed by his family.

Besides his mother Lillian F. Carlin and his wife Phyllis Carlin, he is survived by two sons, Lynn (Billie Jo) Carlin of Allentown, and Kris Carlin of Scio, two daughters, Cricket (James) Potter and Shannon (Ken) Greene both of Scio, two step daughters, Debra Caldwell of Portville and Geraldine (Rick) Wurster of Bolivar, two sisters, Wanda Nelson of Portville and Tookie Cole of Wellsville, two brothers, Ted (Marilynn) Carlin of Bolivar and Judd (Arlene) Carlin of Wellsville, 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father Charles D. Carlin, a sister Carol Norman and two brothers, Ned P. and C. Ben Carlin.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Mulholland-Crowell Funeral Home where a funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Reverend Carl Kemp officiating. Burial will be at Fairlawn Cemetery in Scio where full military services will be conducted.

The family suggests that memorials be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
