HOW THE WAY WAS PREPARED by Rev. Calvin Fairbank

Fairbank book on sale locally and by mail

The Angelica Booster Citizens, under the imprint Heritage Days Press, have reprinted Calvin Fairbank’s 1890 memoir, How the Way Was Prepared. The 153-page paperbound book, with cover illustration by Pat Kaake and edited by Tracy Cassidy (Booster News editor), offers a faithful reproduction of the original work, telling the remarkable life story of the famous abolitionist and slave-stealer.

An addendum, edited by David Haggstrom (former BN editor) features a number of items about Rev. Fairbank and his connection to Angelica. These include, from the 2011 Heritage Days Civil War tour of Until the Day Dawn Cemetery, Pat Kaake’s scripts for the portrayal of Calvin Fairbank and also of former slave Thomas Woodland, along with photographs of Rev. Timothy Middleton as Fairbank and Anthony Fuoco as Middleton.

The Fairbank book was very well received in its Heritage Days debut. It sells for $14.95 and is available in Angelica at The Little Building, The Canteen, and Delectable Collectables.
